Yukon Bound – with a few stops along the way…

Hi folks,

It’s been so great to be home the last ten days. I’ve got the wood in, held the baby lots, and watched some good movies.

One of the amazing things about my job is that I get to share the stage with some great artists. The first show on the November tour is happening at the legendary Black Sheep in Wakefield, QC. Ana Egge and Peter Elkas are also on the bill.  I did a couple of Blue Bird North shows with Peter before and he’s fantastic and I’m also really looking forward to hearing and meeting Ana Egge. I love her stuff as well. Then, after the Black Sheep show I’m off to Toronto to play Hugh’s Room with Ashley MacIsaac. I’m a big Ashley fan. This is going to be a great night!

I’m going to be playing a matinee show on Saturday in Oakville and then I’m playing another matinee show on Sunday at the London Folk club.  Wow, 2 matinees in 2 days! I haven’t played a matinee show since St. Patrick’s Day many years ago at Dolan’s Pub in Fredericton.

So then it’s up and away to the Yukon. While I was home, just two days ago, I was sorting through some stuff in the basement and I found an illustrated version of the Cremation of Sam McGee. How perfect!

The folks up there are telling me to have a survival kit in the car with me. Things like thermal pants, a flashlight, some water and energy bars, matches and a cord of dry wood.  I wonder if the car rental company provides this stuff.  “There you go sir. You’re all set, the wood’s in the trunk.”

So 14 shows in 19 nights then I’ll be home again. If any of you are in the vicinity of these shows, I hope to see you there. Feel free to pass the message along to anyone who might be able to check out a show in their area.

Thanks a bunch as always,
Dave
