Mercury Rising!

Hello everybody.
Hope that you’re enjoying the hot summer. The John Allan tribute CD
has been completed and sent away for manufacturing. It was hard to
see her go but I’ll have more free time on my hands now. I’m looking
forward to the Chez DeLauriers festival in Antigonish on July 30 and opening for Blue Rodeo at the New Glasgow Jubilee on August 1st.
Check the ’shows’ page for other dates this summer. Hope to see you soon!
All the best,
Dave

Summer update

Hello folks,

Just getting geared up for summer and currently putting the final touches on the John Allan Tribute recording.  Can’t wait to get back to Stan Fest this year and then off to the Mariposa Folk Festival in Orillia, Ontario (the home of Lightfoot) for their 50th anniversary.  Then I’ll be playing at the Twisted Pines Festival in Midland, Ontario.  When I get back to Nova   Scotia I’m going to be playing in Antigonish for the Dragonfly’s Outdoor Festival and then back home to open for Blue Rodeo, one of my favourite bands, at the New Glasgow Jubilee.  To see other dates click on the shows tab at the top of the page.

In the fall I’ll be doing a John Allan Tribute tour in the Maritimes, then back to Ontario for a bunch of dates and then returning home to do a run of Christmas shows.

Thanks everyone & hope to see you at my upcoming shows,

Dave

What’s going on…

Hi everybody,

I’ve been in the studio quite a bit during the last few weeks working on a John Allan Cameron tribute record. This is a very special and important project to me and something that I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I’m really happy with the way that it’s shaping up!

I’m also looking forward to the summer. I’ll be playing lots of shows on the east coast including StanFest in July, then heading out to Ontario to play a few dates including the Mariposa Folk Festival for their 50th anniversary.

There are some really cool things happening and tours being planned for the coming months and into next year. Check in from time to time to get the latest news!

Take care for now,
Dave

Lots Happening…

Off to the Olympics … to Ireland … to the East Coast Music Awards … a rolling Sconestone.

Everything comes in a rush it seems. It’s such an exciting month of shows and to tie all of this together I will be carrying the Sconestone with me. Check it out at www.sconestone.com. I will be the 18th carrier of this beautiful piece of art. Each person who touches the stone commits to doing an act of kindness. It’s already been to many different parts of the world and I will be taking it from Vancouver to Ireland and then back to Pictou County, where I’ll do my act of kindness. At each stop I make, people will be able to touch the stone and make their commitment to doing act of kindness. I will then bring the stone with me to the East Coast Music Awards in Cape Breton and then to Breakfast Television in Halifax where I’ll hand it off to Jason Baxter.

I also wanted to thank Steven Bowers, Thom Swift and Lennie Gallant for the great run of shows that we just finished together in Nova Scotia. I really enjoyed hanging out with you guys, and Steve, we’ll always have the hot tub in Mabou.

The best to you all,
Dave

Update from the Great White North

I’m in the Yukon and loving it – What a place!! Below is a picture of me heading to my next show…

This is called Dog Mushing. Karen McKenna and her friend David Murray took
me out the day after my show at Annie Lake Road. It was magic! When
Dave with dogsthis picture was taken we had gone through several kms of narrow trail
through the woods, dodging trees and ducking branches, and had just
crossed a frozen lake. I had a team of five dogs and David, in the
distance in front of me, had a team of eight. He wanted to make sure
that my team didn’t overtake his. These dogs have an incredible work
ethic for sure. They just go. It was absolutely beautiful!

Yukon Bound – with a few stops along the way…

Hi folks,

It’s been so great to be home the last ten days. I’ve got the wood in, held the baby lots, and watched some good movies.

One of the amazing things about my job is that I get to share the stage with some great artists. The first show on the November tour is happening at the legendary Black Sheep in Wakefield, QC. Ana Egge and Peter Elkas are also on the bill.  I did a couple of Blue Bird North shows with Peter before and he’s fantastic and I’m also really looking forward to hearing and meeting Ana Egge.
